Cheap glider rehab

When visually planning the nursery in my head, I knew I wanted a glider, but I also knew I didn’t want to pay the full price for a new glider which would be over $100.

So I began searching Goodwill & Marketplace. I found this used glider on
Facebook Marketplace for $10!!!
I knew it would go fast, so I took a chance and reserved it by pay-palling the lady $10 to hold it for me until the next day when I could pick it up. I was about 5 months pregnant when I took this task on of getting this glider shoved in the back of my SUV. Luckily the lady did majority of the heavy lifting for me. Thankfully, because I did not have a plan as to how I was going to get this in the car if she couldn’t help.

Once at home:
First, I wiped the glider down with a soapy rag getting off all the dust and dirt. Then, Once it dried, I primed the glider with a white problock primer using my electric paint sprayer. I used a paint brush for the top half. & You can use a paint brush for the whole thing, but when doing the bottom part, my paint brush couldn’t reach all the crevices, and it was easier to just use the paint sprayer. It needed about 3 coats. Once completely dry, I put a protective finish on it.

I didn’t have the cushion situation figured out yet, but I was eager to get it into the nursery to see what it would look like. With my husband at work and me technically not being allowed to pick up the chair while pregnant, I teetered and inched the chair down the hall to the nursery doorway. My impatient self should have waited until my husband got home from the beginning, but I was too excited. I got the chair to the doorway and couldn’t get it in the room! So the chair was left blocking the hallway and doorway to the nursery until he got home.

So then, I had to make the decision if I was going to up-cycle and update the cushions it already had or try to find new ones. I contemplated using the same cushions and upholstering them, butttt I had a Bed Bath & Beyond gift card & decided to use it on getting new cushions instead of doing them myself. I found a coupon and spent $40 on comfy new cushions for the glider.

Bought the chair for $10,
used paint I already had laying around,
& bought new cushions for $40…. Glider finished for $50!!!
