Thought provoking holiday questions you should ask kids

Be mindful of what questions you ask children in the next few days.

My husband and I are making a very conscious effort to not teach our kids that Christmas is about gifts. If you are wanting to make a change about the way kids think and act you must steer away from certain questions that influence their thinking.

Don’t ask kids:
“What did you get for Christmas/What did Santa bring you” <—— Kids learn that if this is all adults ask me and talk about then this must be what Christmas is about.

Note:
1. Not all families are financially in a position to get their children toys.
2. Not everyone does Santa.

What you should ask kids:
“What was your favorite part about Christmas/the holidays” or “Tell me something I don’t know that you did over the holidays” <—- THIS will encourage kids to talk about family time and the experiences they had not the material things they received.

Sincerely,
Megan Claire Watson
